The winter in the United Kingdom is mainly chilly, and is certainly not the best of times to book your holiday in North Devon, which can be very windy indeed, yet once March is over, the weather improves and one can spend pleasant days walking along the many hiking trails in this beautiful corner of England.

The Unpredictable British Weather

As you will no doubt be aware, the English weather is very unpredictable, and for the best chance of sunny days and nice warm temperatures is any time between June and August. North Devon is always a little windy, so make sure you have windproof jackets, which will help you enjoy the breezy hikes along the coastal cliffs. There are many quaint pubs, inns and tea shops where you can sample the local cuisine and listen to the old locals who have many tales of shipwrecking and piracy.

Avoiding the Crowds

June through August will see many tourists who come to enjoy this unique part of England, and once you get to the beginning of September, tourist numbers drop considerably. Of course, if there is an Indian summer, you can enjoy very long sunny days, and in September, the weather is still warm. The Internet is a wealth of information and a few hours browsing will familiarise you with North Devon and the many local attractions.
