9 Breathtaking Beaches in Dubai Everyone Needs to Visit

Are you taking a vacation to Dubai soon?

While there's a lot you have to do in Dubai, from scoping out the modern architecture to shopping to taking part in the lively nightlife, you need to remember to make time for visiting some beaches.

Dubai isn't as well known for its beaches as other places like Thailand or Hawaii. However, this city is home to some world-class beaches that are waiting to be discovered.

Which ones should you make time for during your trip?

Check out this guide to learn about the top beaches in Dubai that you need to visit.

1. JBR Beach

Dubai's largest beach also happens to be one of its most beloved.

While JBR is easily one of Dubai's busiest beaches, it's definitely possible to find a private patch of sand here at any time of the day. JBR attracts all kinds of beachgoers, from jet skiers to joggers to snorkelers to volleyball players to fly boarders to fitness buffs.

The beach also has an abundance of cafes, restaurants, and entertainment venues such as movie theaters, playgrounds, and arcades. JBR also offers showers, changing rooms, and beach bed rentals.

2. Kite Beach

Kite Beach is a northern section of the larger Umm Suqeim beach.

If you're looking to go kayaking or paddleboarding, this is the place to go. In addition to these activities, this beach is also home to a skate park, high ropes course, bungee jumping agency, running track, and a newly added human slingshot (yes, you read that right). Kite beach is also home to a 14km stretch that is perfect for running or walking along.

Oh, and let's not forget about the biggest draw of the beach- the kitesurfing! The beach is exposed to wind, making it an excellent spot for kitesurfing as well as kite flying.

After all of this physical activity, you're likely going to work up an appetite. Luckily, you can refuel at one of the beach's many food stalls or food trucks.

3. Al Mamzar Beach

If you're looking for a great family beach, Al Mamzar beach is the place to go.

Here, you can barbecue, swim in the sea or pool, jet ski, rollerskate, build sandcastles, or hang out in an air-conditioned bungalow. Al Mamzar beach has over 25 grill pits complete with wooden tables and chairs, making this the perfect beach to pass the entire day on.

This beach is also located near the edge of Dubai, which means it's more peaceful with fewer tourists. Also, Mondays and Wednesdays are women only, so it's also perfect for those on a girls' trip!

4. Al Sufouh Beach

If you're on the hunt for a hidden gem, Al Sufouh Beach is the place to check out. While this beach can be a bit hard to find, it's often deserted and is definitely worth it for the fantastic views.

To the left, you'll be able to spot Logo Island, which houses the palace of the prime minister. To the right, you'll be able to see the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

Al Sufouh is an excellent family beach, as it's home to shallow waters. However, because it's off the beaten track, there are no facilities at this beach, so be sure to bring everything you need.

5. Dubai Marina Beach

Another excellent spot to check out is the Dubai Marina Beach.

Located in a luxury residential area, this is a vast, flat beach with soft white sand. This beach is home to warm water as well as plenty of cafes and ice cream shops. Dotted along the beach are also several luxury hotels with balconies and beautiful views.

This is also the place to go if you want to rent a luxury yacht charter.

6. Umm Suqeim/Sunset Beach

Located in front of Umm Suqeim Park, Sunset Beach is a bustling urban beach that has barbecue areas as well as a children's playground.

The beach is also home to plenty of restaurants and cafes. But, the biggest draw of the beach is easily 12-meter high light poles. These poled illuminate the water until midnight, which means this is the perfect beach for anyone looking for a night swim.

Sunset beach also has Wifi, changing rooms, and plenty of lifeguards.

7. Jebel Ali Beach

Jebel Ali Beach is the place to go if you're on the hunt for a scuba diving adventure.

Located 32 kilometers away from downtown Dubai, this is a great beach to go to if you're looking for some peace and quiet. The beach is also near a famous luxury resort, the JA Jebel Ali Beach Hotel. Here, you'll find a golf course, multiple pools, and a private stretch of beach.

8. La Mer

If you're looking for some world-class seafood, then La Mer beach is the place to go.

In addition to being home to delicious seafood restaurants, this beach is also home to plenty of yummy cafes and ice cream shops. You can also swim here from sunrise to sunset, making this a great place to go if you're looking to make a day of it.

9. Jumeirah Open Beach

Not to be confused with the JBR, the Jumeirah Open Beach is perfect for anyone who is looking to grab a book and hang out along a quiet stretch of sand.

Forgot to bring your own book? Not to worry. The beach has a library where you can check out books for free. And, Jumeirah Open Beach has comfy tables and beanbags you can lounge on while you pass the time.
