Views You're Only Going To Get At Cape Town
It’s an incredibly popular destination among globe-trotters, but you might find that the average person has little-to-no knowledge of Cape Town. Not a single landmark, building, or draw, despite the fact it’s so incredibly full of them.
That’s simply not acceptable. Beyond the vibrant culture, the constant stream of public events, and all the sun, sea, and sand you could hope for, Cape Town is a gorgeous part of the world and we’re going to talk about a few of the sights you can only find here.
Some of the most colorful communities
Cape Town is really two cities, and some parts of it have pretty bad reputations. However, you shouldn’t be afraid, as the most tourist-friendly and popular places like the city center and the suburbs are remarkably safe so long as you’re a safety conscious traveler (as you should be). If you fail to explore some of the different areas of the city, you are going to regret it. It has one of the world’s most colorful neighborhoods (quite literally) in the rainbow streets of Bo-Kaap. Meanwhile, the Victoria and Albert Waterfront offers some of the most prestigious looking European-style buildings calling back to South Africa’s rich history. If you want the luxury metropolitan experience, head to the Central Business District which is nowhere near as boring as it might sound.
Nature and city together in harmony
If you’re someone who prefers being close to natural beauty, the idea of a city trip might not sit right with you, but Cape Town fuses with its environment in perfect fashion. You can’t talk about Cape Town without talking about the cape, of course. The beaches are beyond compare, and there are plenty of accommodation options like Atlantic Dream Villa that put you within reach of both the coast and the most popular parts of the city. The horizon alone makes you feel so much closer to the wild, with mountains like the instantly visible Table Mountain ever standing over the city, brooding and impressive. It’s not too far to take a cable car up there to see what the view is like from the other end, either.
City penguins
When you go to Africa, you might your “Lion King” safari moment, seeing the Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, and elephants) up close. You can get it, too, with your chance to visit habitats that offer safe refuges for these animals not too far from the city. But before you take the trip out there, you are going to want to see some of the urban wildlife that will make your local park look desolate by comparison. There are white zebra, penguins, goat-like tahr, seals, and flamingos all within a short trip from the city center. With wildlife like that on your back door, it’s easy to forget about the safari.
There is no other city in the world like Cape Town and that’s not just because there are city penguins. When you visit, bring your cameras, because there are going to be sights that you never want to forget.
