Why Travel Brings You Closer To People

There’s nothing quite like going on an adventure. You can choose to do this alone and learn quite a significant amount about yourself and your character.

You can also pursue this experience with someone, and there are many benefits to doing so. One of them is that you get much closer with them throughout the experience. This is wonderful if you’re hoping to become more intimate with your love interest, or simply bond with a family member more.

There are reasons for this. They deserve further examination. This article hopes to do that, so buckle in and hopefully, become encouraged to take your nearest and dearest with you the next time you vacation:

Challenge

Depending on where you travel, you will likely encounter some form of travel, smaller or greater. It might simply be the ability to find your bearings and navigate the city you have travelled to. In some circumstances, it might be learning the complex pathways of travelling over a great distance of land. It might be travelling with a firm such as Kandoo Adventures and doing something truly exceptional such as climbing a mountain. What all these things have in common is that they must be overcome together.

People can often show you who they’d like you to see when you’re in a normal daily setting without much stress. However, it really takes effort and authentic, genuine growth in order to overcome challenge. When you are in the presence of someone doing this, you see their inmost character. They also see yours. This might not be spoken between the two of you, but you can see how this opens you up to each other, even subconsciously. This is the fuel that also generates adventure, and helps you bond memories that only the both of you share.

If you want to become close with someone emotionally, then close in proximity and circumstance is a great place to start. A challenging adventure is the most optimal place this can occur.

Unknown

Travelling into the unknown is quite rewarding for its own obvious reasons. However, you might not fully realize how profound this can be. Think about how we are set up psychologically. We are the happiest and find meaning when we have stability and order, but also something new to work towards every day. This offers us a balance between chaos and order, providing us with the means to continue but also the opportunity for something more. It’s akin to the hero’s journey.

Travelling into the unknown be that a new country, a new sporting challenge or simply experiencing a new culture is more than a challenge. It’s an entirely new perceptual framework you must adopt, which is akin to that untapped potential we need to thrive. When you have the stability of someone close to you to rely on and mutually support, this balance of meaning is completed well, and the two of you grow more densely emotionally available than you might have realized.

Head to a new culture and hike with your sibling and you’ll likely see that you return to that feeling you both had when growing up and learning about the world together. This is a wonderful thing to consider and keep in mind when choosing your next adventure, potentially offering you a wealth of experience no one can take away from you.

So make your choice of companion wisely, choose your destination and go for it. You’ll no doubt craft the memories of a lifetime.
